Kansas, Don't Spoil It!
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment began the Kansas Don’t
Spoil It! campaign, as an awareness and education program, to encourage Kansans to
reduce, reuse and recycle waste and maintain Kansas' natural beauty. Keeping good environmental practices requires a lot of effort and education. Minimizing waste and limiting environmental impact can go along way to keeping Kansas clean.
The goal of the program is to teach citizens make simple changes in different areas that have a meaningful impact on the environment. All efforts, big or small, can improve the environment for decades to come. The Don't Spoil It! program emphasizes each Kansas responsibility and the potential impact of making minor changes.
The Don't Spoil It! campaign has been all around the state from the Kansas State Fair to roadside billboards to pamphlets at local recycling centers. In addition to brochures, fact sheets, newspaper ads, public service announcements and promotional items, the Don't Spoil It! campaign has gone to the classroom.
Developing a comprehensive educational package, means that children in grades K-8 are exposed to the best practices of environmental stewardship. Reaching children early can encourage a long-term awareness of the environment and desire to preserve the beauty of Kansas into the future.
