Lead and Copper Information

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently issued regulations requiring all public water supply (PWS) systems to develop a Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI) of both water system owned and your privately owned service lines. Bel Aire’s PWS system must submit this inventory to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) by October 16, 2024.

While these contaminants are not present in the source water, they can potentially enter tap water through the corrosion of service line piping and older household plumbing materials. In compliance with drinking water regulations, we are now required to send out surveys to all service locations and request our valued customers to complete them.

Need assistance identifying plumbing materials? Please reference the ‘Plumbing Material Reference Brochure’ below or call Bel Aire Public Works department at 316-744-2888.

Additional information can be found on the KDHE website or the EPA website.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work through this federal government project. Together we can ensure that we continue to provide clean and safe drinking water to Bel Aire customers.
